Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose. -Bo Bennett
After reading a couple of recent posts about visualization, I started thinking about the process and realized that I have never really given the mechanics of the process very much focused thought. Perhaps that’s because I have always had something of “visual thought process”. Long before I knew about Law of Attraction, I would describe myself as a visually oriented thinker and learner. Even now, when I am in a teaching mode, I have a strong urge to draw (even if that’s just boxes, circles, and arrows) in an attempt to illustrate what I’m saying in a given moment. I recognize, however, that some people don’t naturally think this way and can have a harder time with the process of visualization.
So today I’ve decided to offer a few links to content that contains additional information on the mechanics and process of visualization. Some of these are not related to Law of Attraction — well, at least not from the author’s point of view
– but they speak to the process all the same.
I hope you find these beneficial!

What I do you cannot do; but what you do, I cannot do. The needs are great, and none of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful. -Mother Teresa
For those of you that may not be aware, this blog was started as a companion to a group that I organize called the Tampa Law of Attraction Meetup Group. This gathering has attracted a diverse group of people who have enriched not only my life but the lives of each other as well and I’m proud to be a part of this particular journey. In the time since the group began we have seen the membership consistently grow and we are now looking forward with great expectation to the next step in our travels together.
With that in mind, I’m extremely pleased to announce that the Tampa Law of Attraction Meetup Group is now an affiliate chapter of “The Gathering Project” founded by Andrew Adler. “The Gathering Project” was created as a gathering place for those who share the common interest of self-improvement through spiritual growth, enlightenment, accessing spiritual and healing gifts, and making the world a more peaceful and better place to live.
Essentially, this group could be thought of as a network of like minded people who share similar goals of improving themselves and the lives of others by making themselves visible for others to locate. Andrew was recently interviewed about “The Gathering Project” by Julie Johnson of LawOfAttractionTools.com and the show can be listened to or downloaded from her site.
You can learn more about “The Gathering Project” at the official Meetup site.

It seems I’ve been “tagged” in the High Vibes Game by Vickie at Contemplate This so that makes it my turn to post about what I do to raise my vibration!
According to OptimistLab, it seems the way this works is to post my top 5 vibrational increasing activities and then link to 5 blogs that I read on a regular basis. So, here we go!
Activities that I use to raise my vibrational level:
- I set my intentions before I get out of bed every morning.
I’ve posted about this before but from my perspective this activity probably represents the single biggest impact on my vibrations. Here’s the post where I wrote about this in more detail.
- I look for things to appreciate and be thankful for.
I always begin my meditative moments with appreciation which sometimes allows for a few moments of contemplation so that those items I need to appreciate can bubble up to the surface of my mind. Interestingly, I find it’s not at all unusual that during those moments I’m able to find something to appreciate in what might otherwise be considered a less than optimal situation. That “silver lining” has a way of showing itself during those moments
.
- I am careful to focus on only those things that help me feel better than I currently do.
One of the early changes I found that made a huge difference in the way I feel was my decision to stop watching or reading the news. I know this is a difficult one for many people as I am often given a funny look when I talk about this one but, for me, the vibrational level of the items normally delivered by the mass media was just too overwhelming. The relatively small amount of news that I now follow comes from HappyNews.com. Additionally, I am very careful about any programming I watch on television.
- I regularly meet with others who share my intentions and desire to feel better.
I learned about Meetup.com from Vickie at Contemplate This who was herself organizing a Law of Attraction meetup in her area. I searched the site for my area and found that there were no meetup groups close to me so I started one. We have now established a regular every other week meeting and the people that have arrived at these meetings have each brought their own wonderful perspectives and intentions to share with the group. If you haven’t previously thought of this, I would encourage you to seek out other like-minded individuals with which to share your time. You will no doubt find this a highly rewarding experience.
- I regularly post to my blog as well as read and comment on others blogs.
Blogging basically equates to a modern day version of journaling but has the added benefit of allowing a glimpse into the thoughts of others. I often find the act of reading another’s post will cause me to stop and think about the way I’m thinking about a certain thing. It’s like that proverbial look in the mirror where you see something that gives you pause. These moments often lead to a post of my own which in turn may prompt someone else to post something that I may again read and the cycle repeats with each repetition taking us vibrationally higher and higher.
Now it’s time to send that cycle onward and upward so here are the bloggers that I’m tagging!

Our intention creates our reality. –Wayne Dyer
Lately I’ve been in that quiet place where everything just seems to be in harmony. It’s like that cork that’s floating along on top of the water without a care in the world as to where it may be headed or how it will get there.
Interestingly, many of my friends have sensed the difference in me and mistakenly assumed that something is wrong because I’ve been a bit more quiet than usual. The reality is that I’ve never felt better. The interesting part of that, for me anyway, are the feelings of detachment that have accompanied this change. I’m not talking about apathy or anything like that but rather a serene “knowing” that all is well and that, as such, there is no need for me to concern myself with what I now see as “trivial” matters. It’s as if I understand the statement, perhaps for the first time, that I’ve heard so many times before; “Don’t sweat the small stuff…and it’s all small stuff!”
So, how did I get here? Well, the single biggest thing that I can attribute this to is the practice I’ve been doing for a while now where I set my intention for my day as soon as I awaken every morning. I started out by saying to myself things like:
- “Today, I am grateful for (fill in the blank).”
- “Today, I intent to attract a joyous day.”
- “Today, I intent to feel good.”
As my practice has continued, I’ve found that I don’t necessarily need to mentally verbalize these thoughts because I have learned how to focus on the feelings associated with what I want which, of course, attracts more of those feelings.
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity, I encourage you to give this a try. It may just surprise you!

There is more to life than increasing its speed. –Mohandas Gandhi
During the last week, I’ve noticed that the routine I’ve established of setting my intention for the day at the moment of my waking has really helped create my days in such a way that I’ve felt true contentment.
I have had a couple of conversations in the last few days about how pleasant my days have been and how these feelings have really given me the sense that I know what Abraham (via Esther Hicks) means when using the analogy of the floating cork. I really have felt/sensed/understood that “all is well” and that more is on the way that is even better than I am experiencing now.
If you’re a regular follower of this blog, you will have noticed that a few days have passed since my last post. The reason for this is that, frankly, it didn’t seem like there was anything that needed to be said. My cork has just been happily floating along and even though I continue to have desires for bigger and better, my contentment and happiness with where I am and what I am experiencing has been so high that I’ve truly been appreciating things in the now.
One of the biggest changes that I have been aware of during this process is what you might call the “pace” of my life. I’ve noticed that while those around me scurry about and get worked up in the process, I actually feel like my world has slowed down. I’m not doing any less than I was before; in fact, I am probably a bit busier. It’s just that now I don’t feel as rushed or pressured as I have in the past. It’s kind of like I’m in this dream-like state where I am doing what I need to do but I’m also aware of how much faster those around me seem to be moving. It’s as if, for me, time itself has slowed.
My wife has, on occasion, told me that I act like I’m on vacation. My standard response for some time now has been that, “I’m on a permanent vacation,” and that’s exactly how I’ve noticed myself feeling more and more.

Your inner knowing is your only true compass. -Joy Page
The more I read and study the vast number of interpretations, or reinterpretations as the case may be, of Law of Attraction, the more I realize how much our beliefs impact the way we live our lives. I have had several conversations and read various books, essays, and blog posts that reinforce the wonderful variety that exists in this physical form. That variety is a direct result of our individual desires at work drawing forth the experiences in the manner that each of us asks for.
There are those who believe that we must “work hard” or perform some other kind of ritual in order to obtain that which we desire. They say, “How could I expect something to just show up unless I do something that facilitates the action?” These people may even be strong proponents of Law of Attraction but remain convinced that are required to do something in order to get the process moving.
On the other end of that spectrum are those who believe that the only thing necessary for the attainment of all our desires is to align ourselves vibrationally with what we want and let the Universe take care of the rest. They believe that the only act necessary is an inward one. “Believe it and you will see it”, they say. They firmly believe that the Law of Attraction requires nothing of us but continually provides whatever it is we are asking for with our thoughts.
Which is correct? Well, the really cool part is that they both are!
Because Law of Attraction says that whatever we think about is what we draw to ourselves, then it should be easy to see why both of these seemingly opposite ideas are actually correct for each respective individual according to his or her choices/thoughts/desires. In other words, if you believe that hard work is necessary to achieve your desires, then Law of Attraction will provide the hard work you believe is needed. Conversely, if you believe that your inward alignment will bring your desires forth, Law of Attraction will provide for you based on your beliefs.
So, what does it really take to manifest your desires? Simply put, whatever you think it does.

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen. -Frank Lloyd Wright
I had lunch recently with a close friend of mine who over the past year has lost a significant amount of weight. While she has been very successful in losing the weight, she has struggled to keep it off or lose any additional. She occasionally makes statements that, with an understanding of Law of Attraction, make the reasons for her difficulties perfectly understandable.
While she is now something of a shadow of her former self, she still sees herself as being, in her words, fat. I have heard her refer to herself as “the fat girl” on more than one occasion as well as referring to certain parts of her body as being fat. I have discussed with her how her thoughts affect her experience and at the conclusion of our lunch, I told her once again that her self perception was unjustified.
When I, and others who know her, look at her, we see a healthy, vibrant, beautiful woman. When she looks at herself, she sees all the things that are “wrong” with her body. She continues to think about, and thus attract, more of what she does not want. By allowing her old thoughts to continue in the forefront of her mind, she is adding to them and the Universe is responding by providing all manner of opportunities for her to gain weight.
This issue is one that I can relate to quite easily as I am currently in the process of attracting a new physique for myself. I can recall a time, not all that long ago, when I thought of myself as “fat” and continually found myself getting larger and larger. Changing my thoughts on this subject wasn’t necessarily difficult, but it did take some conscious effort in the beginning. As with all thoughts that move you up the vibrational scale, these have become easier and easier as each one attracted more like it.

Ok, this is going to seem a bit odd for a post but just read this.
There’s nothing that I can add to this thought!

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. -Alan Cohen
Personal growth often occurs as a result of some kind of struggle, even if it’s only an emotional struggle. Think about it. As a child, you might have been apprehensive about that first day you left home and went to school. Years later, perhaps you left home to go to college or get married. Going on that first job interview, buying your first car, or buying your first home were all activities that were most likely preceded by some form of struggle. During these times, we often hesitate and think, “I don’t know about this; is this the right thing to do?” It’s usually the fear of the unknown or fear of failure that often creates these emotional hurdles. “What if something goes wrong; what about this or that?” The problem with this occurs when we allow this moment of fear to prevent us from moving forward.
Over the last year or so, I had decided that I wanted to begin taking dance lessons but I was somewhat apprehensive about going since I’ve never done anything like that before. Once I decided I had thought about it long enough, I tried recruiting a group from my work to go as well so that I would have others that I already knew attending with me. I rounded up a small group and made the arrangements but, as sometimes happens, several of the individuals changed their minds as the date for the class approached. In fact, all but one person backed out.
It was at this point that my doubts started kicking in and I heard those familiar messages start playing in my head. I hesitated. I could have chosen to dwell on those thoughts, which would, of course, draw more of them to me. In fact, it would have been quite easy to stay with that low energy flow. Since I endeavor to monitor my thoughts because of my understanding of Law of Attraction, I very quickly resolved to change them and get things moving in the right direction again.
So, what kind of growth have I seen as a result of overcoming this hurdle? First, I’ve added to the list of activities from which I gain a tremendous amount of joy. And as a completely unexpected bonus, I’ve gained a dear friend! (Yes, that’s her in the photo with me).

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. –Mother Teresa
On her blog, Sanctuary for Change, Susan Hanshaw has an interesting post where she discusses the role of forgiveness in the manifestation process. She states that our choice to forgive helps drive the outcome we desire even though the actions we are forgiving seem counter to our desires. Her post made me think of a recent conversation I had with a friend about some of the events of the last few years including the war in Iraq.
The conversation began because someone had given my friend a sticker that looked like the U. S. flag and my friend didn’t want it. When I inquired why she didn’t want it, she promptly told me that she was not proud to be an American because of her intense disagreement with the war. My question to her was, “So, you are saying that you are not proud of your country and your heritage based on the fact that you disagree with the policies and decisions of it current leaders?” She indicated that I was correct in my statement.
Since I personally believe that my country and my heritage represent much more than the actions of a particular set of leaders, I was somewhat shocked at her stance. That’s not to say that I always agree with the decisions that are made on my behalf. In fact, in recent years, I have more and more found the issues I feel strongly about to not only be divided among the political parties, but many of them are often seen as polarizing issues for one party or the other.
Since I know that Law of Attraction says that whatever I give my thoughts to is what I help manifest, I choose to only think about those issues that are important to me while giving no thought, and thus no manifestation energy, to those which are the opposite of what I want. Taking a stance and giving my thoughts against something, like a war, for instance, does nothing but give more manifestation energy to that which I don’t want simply because I’m still thinking about it. Taking a stance and giving my thoughts for something, like peace, is a much more productive way of addressing an issue. Either way, I am helping to manifest it. Mother Teresa lived in this manner. When asked if she would march against the war in Vietnam she said, “No, I won’t but when you have a march for peace, I’ll be there.”
Today, I am choosing to think about peace and love by remembering that “we belong to each other”. How about you?
